Hi, I’m Greg, and I’m the founder of this site. I’m a jack-of-all-trades of sorts; I’ve written books and blogs, worked in more industries than I can count, and I like to think of myself as a scholar of life. I’m a practitioner of nursing, a student of stoicism, a believer in compassion and empathy, and feel like giving back to the world and helping my fellow humans on their journey is my purpose in life.
To go into a bit more detail, I’m 41 years old. I was NOT what you would consider a health-conscious person for the majority of my young life. I grew up in a poor family, in a small rural area, and most of my parents’ focus was on ensuring our survival by whatever means necessary; as a result, my childhood was full of the trappings of not-quite-poverty: food stamps were ever-present (though never in abundance), white-labeled commodity cans of vegetables had residence in the cupboards, hand-me-down clothes were frequently donated by nearby cousins, and I attended a small public school in a village near the land I grew up on. The bills got paid, and we never went cold or hungry, but the ideas of things such as gym memberships or being able to afford to pay for uniforms and registrations fees for sports teams were luxuries we could not afford. As an adult, the ways of that childhood would follow me. I lived on a diet of junk food and soda, didn’t sleep well, didn’t take care of myself, and didn’t entertain the idea of physical fitness for a long time.
Once I became more conscious, I found that I always had trouble developing a healthy lifestyle, eating well, building muscle, and maintaining good mental health. Sure, a lot of that had to do with my willpower, time management, etc., but one thing that stayed consistent in being an obstacle was COST. And a stereotypical mindset. “It’s EXPENSIVE to live healthy”. This is a common belief, and one I never really questioned. Until I did. I’ve spent years now, trying to hack that system, finding tricks, workarounds, wading through thousands of bullshit articles, websites, and books with one purpose: find what WORKS that can be done at little or no financial expense. So here we are. This website is the product of those years. Straightforward, no-bullshit information that is proven to work, without breaking your wallet. Let’s get to work.
